Charity Policy

The Countryside Directory takes its responsibilities to charity seriously. We want to be perceived as a good neighbour within the communities where we work and to contribute to worthy causes wherever and whenever we can. As part of this process, we have developed a policy that governs the way that we help charities. To this end, a charity committee has been established with members representing the charities we support and promote. The committee meets regularly to make decisions about which charities to support, and how best to help them. Annually, our employees are asked to nominate the charities they would like to support. Each employee is asked to nominate one local charity and two national charities. The results are collated, published on our website and distributed throughout the business. Each nominated charity is entitled to receive an advert from one of our packages to help raise awareness and funds for all the good work they do. Each advert will display the charity they support with a direct link to the supported charity’s website. Any registered UK charity can also sign up for an advert even if they have not been nominated. The Countryside Directory was set up to support UK based charities only. We believe the international charities are as equally important in the work they do, however our service reflects that UK based businesses can help raise funds and awareness for UK based home charities. We will only make cash donations to the charities approved by the Countryside Directory charity committee, these charities are changed annually. Charities from a previous year can be re-nominated. The promised donations to supporting charities are allocated quarterly and once the target has been raised then the donation is forwarded to the charity by cheque. In relation to the charities we promote and the donations we make the organisations we support must fall within the following criteria: Be a registered charity or organisation Be based in the UK This new charity policy takes effect from the launch of our new website dated 1st November 2009. For technical reasons and the limited capabilities of the old website certain information prior to this date will be transferred to the new site as and when donations are made. All work undertaken by the Countryside Directory on behalf of any charitable organisation is done so without charge to the charity.
